New York follows U.S. Eastern Standard Time and the currency used is the U.S. dollar. Getting around in New York with a hire car is a waste of time and money as free parking spaces are virtually non-existing. The best way to get around is by walking, subways, busses and taxis. Travel light, you don’t want any bag to slow down your exploring. Carry only the bare essentials, like money and credit cards, with you in you pockets. Wear very comfortable shoes because the best way to experience New York is on foot.
