Uruguay Introduction
Uruguay is a small southeastern South American country and is bordered by Argentina to the west and Brazil to the north and the Atlantic Ocean to the east. This small country is also called the Switzerland of South America, not because for hits geographical features but for it stable democracy and social benefits such as free education. About 88% of Uruguay's population are of European descent.

The country is mainly a subtropical climate and due to the absence of nearby mountains, the country is vulnerable to rapid weather changes and wind. Due to the abundance of water, high humidity and fog are common in Uruguay. Temperature in Uruguay is uniform throughout the year with an average high temperature of 21˚C and and average low of 11˚C. Rainfall normal occurs during autumn months with regular rainfall occurring during the winter months. The average yearly rainfall is about 950mm.

Montevideo is the largest city and capital of Uruguay, with a population of 1 325 968 and an area of 530 square km. The city has a rich architectural and cultural heritage and is described as a vibrant, electric place with a rich cultural life. The cultural heritage includes the famous tango and the candombe. The architecture of Montevideo reflects its history, ranging from colonial Art Deco, influenced by Italian, French, Spanish, British and Portuguese immigrants.
