Tanzania Introduction
Tanzania is a country in East Africa composed of 26 regions. The capital of Tanzania is Dodoma and Dar es Salaam is the principal commercial city of Tanzania. The country’s name derives from the two states Tanganyika and Zanzibar that united in 1964. As of 2006, the estimated population was 38,329,000 with more than 120 ethnic groups.

Tanzania is endowed with numerous natural tourist attractions such as its abundant and diverse wildlife, spectacular landscapes and scenery. Activities range from safaris, game viewing, beach holidays, mountain climbing, game hunting and photographic safaris.

The largest international airport of Tanzania is the Julius Nyerere International Airport, serving Dar es Salaam and the Kilimanjaro International Airport is the second largest and serves the Kilimanjaro area.

General Info
Any sizable town or city in Tanzania has at least one bank with an ATM, using Visa or Mastercard.
Unfortunately only a few places, such as top-end hotels and travel agents, can process credit card payments.
Weather
The country has a tropical climate and temperatures rarely fall lower than 20 °C. The hottest period is from November to February with temperatures between 25 and 31 °C. The coldest period is from May to August and temperatures range between 15 and 20 °C.

Zanzibar Island is characterised by its beautiful sandy beaches, coral reefs and the magic of the historic Stone Town. This multiracial and multicultural community had a population of around 984 625 in 2002.
