Lagos, the largest city in Nigeria, has an estimated population of 8.8 million in the city and 10.7 million in the metropolitan area. It is estimated by the UN according to the current growth rate, that Lagos will be the third largest mega city by 2015 after Tokyo and Bombay.


Tourism

Lagos is the economic and financial capital of Nigeria and known for its music and night life. In recent years more night clubs sprung on the islands, especially Victoria Island, the main nightlife attraction.

Murtala Muhammed International Airport, originally called Lagos International Airport, officially opened in March 1979. The airport has an international and a domestic terminal but share the same runway.

Weather

The weather in Lagos is classified as tropical savanna, known to have two rainy seasons and two dry seasons. The coolest month of the year is July, with daytime temperatures of around 25°C. March is the hottest month and temperatures rise to around 29°C.
