Cyprus Introduction
An island in the Mediterranean Sea, the country is located east of Greece, south of Turkey, west of Syria and north of Egypt. The Cyprus Island is the third largest island in the Mediterranean Sea. Due to the location, Cyprus has two official languages namely Greek and Turkish. The country's main ethnic group is Greek. Cyprus is also part of the European Union.

Airport
Cyprus' main international airport is located on the outskirts of Larnaka called Larnaca International Airport (LCA). The previous main international airport was located in Nicosia, the capital of Cyprus, but has been out of use since 1974.

General Info
Cyprus is located in Europe and part of the European Union, making the main currency in Cyprus the Euro. The country is located on the +2 GMT meaning it is 2 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time, the same as South Africa. During the summer time the country moves to +3 GMT due to Daylight Savings Time.
Weather
Cyprus has a subtropical climate consisting of Mediterranean and Semi-arid weather with mild winters and hot summers. During wintertime, snow is most likely to fall in the Trodoos Mountains. Rainfall is rare during the summertime as it occurs mainly during the winter times. Summer begin in April and lasts generally for 8 months. The average annual day temperate is around 24˚C and 14˚C during the night. During July and August, when the summer reaches its peak, average temperature is around 33˚C during the day and 23˚C at night.
