Baggage - Weight allowed onboard
Each passenger is allowed to take one bag onboard, weighing not more than 7kg and check-in two bags, not exceeding 23kg together. Passengers will be charged R25 per kilo for any excess weight and babies under 2 years will get no baggage allowance. Any abnormal luggage such as bikes, fishing gear or surfboards form part of your 23kg baggage allowance, except for golf clubs, which entitles you to an extra 10kg weight allowance. Siemens travelers are allowed to take a maximum of 40kg, but must remember their siemens book.
In-flight baggage restrictions
The new in-flight baggage restrictions only apply to regional and international flights and not to local, domestic destinations. The new restrictions include:
All Liquids, Aerosols and Gels, called LAGS, should be carried in containers with a capacity not greater than 100ml each (or equivalent in other volumetric measurements)
All LAGS purchased at retail outlets at the airport or onboard the aircraft during the days of the journey should be placed in a Security Tamper Evident Bag (STEB). These bags should be presented for secondary screening and at transfer security screening.
The STEB (bags) may not be opened until the passenger reaches the final destination. If the bags are tampered with, the LAGS (liquids/gels/aerosols) in that bag will not be allowed for carriage.
LAGS in quantities less than 100ml, carried in part filled containers larger than 100ml, will not to be accepted
LAGS containers should be placed in a transparent re-sealable plastic with a maximum capacity of 1 litre and bags should be completely closed.
Passengers are only allowed one carry bag each.
Conventional security controls and checks as well as random physical searches are applicable.
Empty containers are permitted
Medication, baby milk and baby food, special dietary supplements or medical supplements are allowed.
Checking-in and Boarding
Check-in opens 90 minutes before the flight and closes 30 minutes before the plane takes off. Passengers need to identify themselves by bringing their driver's licence, ID Document or passport. Children are allowed to bring their birth certificate or other form of identification. A seat is assigned to passengers at check-in.
The boarding gates close 20 minutes before the plane takes off.
Children and Babies
Infants under 2 years old fly for free but they must sit on your lap for the duration of the flight and you must remember to include them in your booking. Children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult and no discount fares apply for any children.
